Separated At Birth
78. Baseball/Movies (Derek Lowe/Steven Seagal)
Then we have pitcher Derek Lowe and action movie star Steven Seagal. D-Lo, known for his sinker and a member of the hard-to-crack 20-game winner club from when he was with my Red Sox, bears an uncanny resemblance to our rough and tumble martial arts practitioner. So I turn on the tube one day some time ago and all of a sudden I'm riding shotgun with tough guy Steve on his own reality show on A&E, Steven Seagal Lawman, where he dispenses his brand of justice as a real- life deputy sheriff! Who knew? Then I heard the show went on hiatus due to some girl trouble, something D-Lo knows about (he was tabloid fodder for a while too), so the similarity continues. Next thing I hear is that is that Mr. Steve has ditched the U.S. for Russia of all places and is friendly with Putin! Anyway, D-Lo went on to win a ton of games in the N.L. for not only the Dodgers but then the Braves later. Great going Sox. Like we couldn't have used that or anything. Guys that start like 33-34 games, pitch 200 innings or close to it, and win say 12-16 games, and do it year after year, they just grow on trees. Heck, he was a reliever for the Sox before all that and even led the league in saves one year meaning he tallied more saves for us than HOF-er Mariano Rivera did for the hated Yankees! No great shakes I guess.
