Separated At Birth

41. Music/History (Sarah Caldwell/Benjamin Franklin)

ABOUT
Was highly talented conductor and stage director Sarah Caldwell perhaps a female descendant of American Renaissance man Benjamin Franklin? It's just that when they came out with that 2003 issue (right) with him on the cover I kept thinking "This guy reminds me of someone". Then after digging through my attic, I came upon a 1975 issue (left). In her heyday Ms. Caldwell was quite the force in the music world, especially opera. Not easy since it was such a male-dominated field. It's strange how much you read and hear about other female trailblazers like Barbara Walters and Phyllis George and others but not so much Sarah anymore. She was pretty low profile and all about the music so that probably has a lot to do with it.
